Mohan Babu (Dr. M. Mohan Babu), born as Manchu Bakthavatsalam
Naidu, is known for his versatility as an actor, producer, politician
and educationist from Andhra Pradesh, India. He was conferred with the
prestigious National honor Padma Shri for his yeomen services to the
field of Art in 2007, by His Excellency President of India. He is
popularly called as Dialogue King, Collection King, Nataprapoorna and
Vidyalaya Brahma.

Childhood and Beginnings
Mohan Babu is the eldest son of a pious retired school headmaster Manchu Narayanaswamy Naidu and Lakshmamma. He was born on March 19 at Modhugulapalem village near the banks of river Swarnamukhi, and sandwiched between two famous pilgrim centers Tirupati (abode of Lord Venkateshwara) and Srikalahasti (abode of Lord Vayulingeswara) in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. He has three younger brothers – Ranganath Chowdary, Ramachandra Chowdary and Krishna – and a sister Vijaya. He had his schooling at Yerpedu village and Tirupati. He took his degree in Physical Education in Chennai (Erstwhile Madras). Worked as physical education instructor for a brief while, before making his debut as an artiste in Telugu film industry. Mohan Babu also worked in the direction department for about half-a-decade in early 1970s. He made his debut as an artiste in the film Swargam Narakam(1977). Thereafter, there was no looking back.
Actor and Producer
Mohan Babu is a versatile artiste, who carved a niche for himself among the Telugu audiences worldwide. His unique dialogue delivery distinguishes from all other artistes in the industry. He had acted in 510 films which include 216 films as Hero. His meticulous care right from attire to posture makes him conspicuously efficacious artiste. He always produced socially relevant films, upholding high human values. Best of artistes acted in his films and they found their niche in the roles given to them. Many of his films vividly depict many social problems like corruption, nepotism, and arrogance of the landlords, musclemen and workout right solutions. Some of his films like "Pedharaayudu" have come to stay as evergreen hits made indelible impression on the minds of the people, which feature extreme sacrifice to uphold truth and justice. Many of the films produced by Dr. M. Mohan Babu stand out as masterpieces, which attained perfection in all spheres. At the moment the films he had acted or he produced is telecast almost everyday in any one of the Telugu channels. His two sons Vishnu Manchu and Manoj Manchu are also film heroes. Daughter Lakshmi Manchu is popular in some of the famous TV programs.
Politician
Mohan Babu was nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 1995. During his tenure (till 2001), he introduced bills to amend People's Representation Act, which proposes strong internal democracy in all political parties. He brought to the notice of August House many facets of corruption which is plaguing the country at high places and suggested the ways to tackle it.
Educationist
To impart quality education to the people of the backward Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, Mohan Babu established Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust in 1992. With his relentless efforts, he established many sterling educational institutions, which have now become landmarks in many aspects. With huge structures in panoramic surroundings, the International School, Degree College, Engineering College, Pharmacy College and College for Nursing stand out as exceptional institutions constantly exploring the best possibilities of excellent educational advancement. Dr. M. Mohan Babu is the chairman of the Trust. Many celebrities visit the campus frequently and interact with the students, giving them many valuable suggestions. To make available quality education to one and all among the poorer sections, Mohan Babu personally bears the cost of education to one-fourth of the students. With more than 8000 students and around 1200 staff, the educational institutions leaped into a typical educational township.
Social service
Mohan Babu is also considered a philanthropist, who wants to be unknown. Apart from managing Sree Vidyanikethan Educational Trust and Dr. Mohan Babu Charitable Trust, which take out the lion's share of his earnings from the film world, he generously makes contributions to many charitable organizations, educational institutions. His unstinting financial support helped many organizations to serve the deprived sections of the society. His adopted three drought-prone villages viz., Koochuvaripalle, Pullaiahgari Palle and A. Rangampet in Chandragiri Mandal of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh. The pilot project envisages construction of schools for rural children; conducting of mass literacy programmes for the adults; initiation of schemes to cater to the physical and mental health of the targeted groups; supplying of milching cows to the rural women; laying of rural roads; social forestry; providing safe drinking water facility etc.

Awards
Conferred the coveted Padma Shri by the Union Government in recognition of his yeomen services to the field of Art.
The University of California had conferred the Honorary Doctorate on him in recognition of his services in the filed of story writing.
Mohan Babu also won many awards from the Press, Cultural organizations, Screen, Film Fare and several others. More than awards, he commands love and admiration from the people. Mesmerized by his racy dialogues and serial hit movies, they have rightly honored him with titles "Nataprapoorna" (A complete Artiste), "Dialogue King" and "Collection King".
He was made the Deputy Member for International Parliament for Safety and Peace, USA, in due recognition of his achievements in the field of education.
The Glory of India International Award, which was awarded to Mother Theresa, was also awarded to him for the same.
