Arvind Swami Tamil Was born 18 June 1970) is a popular former Indian actor. He has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. Popular movies to his credit include Roja, Bombay, Minsaara Kanavu, Indira, Devaraagam, Alaipayuthey. Arvind Swami was born on 18 June 1970 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He studied in Sishya School and later in Don Bosco and completed his schooling in 1987. He then graduated from Loyola Colege in 1990 in business. He went to the United States to do his Masters in Intl business from Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

He was introduced to the movie industry by Mani Ratnam through his Thalapathi. His first film, as lead hero, was Mani Ratnam's Roja. The movie became a hit throughout the country and Arvind Swamy's impressive performance established his position as an actor. He was very selective about his roles. Though he has acted in only a few films, most of them went on to become blockbusters, highly rated by film critics. Roja and Bombay, both having a national integration theme won many awards at the State and National levels. Arvind has won several awards, popular and critical, for his films. He was also reviewed by Time Magazine and was appreciated by the magazine for his 'soulful' performance in the film Bombay.
Arvind Swami retired from acting in 2000. In spite of his superstar status, he decided to quit acting and pursue other interests.
Arvind Swami is the first and last Actor in Tamil Nadu who gave open press statement to all his fans, "Do not open any 'Fan Club', I am doing my Job, You do your Job and take care of your family. Do not waste your time & effort with such a worthless activity"
Arvind Swami got married in 1994. They have a daughter Adhira,13 and a son Rudra,9. Arvind studied at Sishya and then at Don Bosco - Egmore, Chennai and did his BCom in Loyola College, Chennai. He went on to do his Masters in Business Administration at Wake Forest University, North Carolina, USA. He shortly returned to India due to his mother's ill health. He lost both his parents in 1993.[2]
Arvind Swami was chairman and managing director of ProLease India and InterPro Global. He is currently the Chairman of Talent Maximus and other companies. Talent Maximus is engaged in Payroll Processing and Employee administration. It is the fastest growing service provider in its domain.He is also the Chairman of Madras Round Table 1 and is involved in many philanthropic activities and trusts.
