Jamshad Cethirakath (born on 11 December 1980), better known by his stage name Arya, is an Indian actor, who mainly appears in Tamil films. He is best known for his lead performances in the films Arinthum Ariyamalum (2005), Pattiyal (2006), Naan Kadavul (2009), Madrasapattinam (2010) and Boss Engira Bhaskaran (2010).

Arya was born in Trichy into a Muslim family who hails from Trikarpur, Kasargod, Kerala. He has a younger brother, named Sathya (Shahir). He graduated with an engineering degree from Crescent Engineering College, based at Vandalur, Chennai. He did his schooling in SBOA Matriculation and Higher Secondary School, Chennai. With his father's support, he ventured himself as a producer for the movie Boss Engira Baskaran.

Arya initially worked as a computer engineer, however, his passion for filming brought him to modelling before debuting in Jeeva's Ullam Ketkumae, which also marked the debut of and Pooja Umashankar. The film also starred Asin. Laila and Shaam, but the film was delayed only releasing after Arinthum Ariyamalum. In Arinthum Ariyamalum, Arya played as son to Prakash Raj in a critically acclaimed role which won him Filmfare Best Debut Award South and Best New Male Face Award at the Filmfare Awards. Arinthum Ariyamalum and Ullam Ketkumae both made it large at the box-office.also acted in telugu film 'Varudu' in a negative role.
His next film Oru Kalluriyin Kathai also made it big at the box-office and Arya was touted as the next pin-up boy of Kollywood. His next, Kalabha Kadhalan was an average grosser at the box office. Pattiyal with Bharath broke records in B and C centre all over Tamil Nadu. He played the role of an underworld hit man in the film. His latest projects Naan Kadavul which released after 3 years in making and much hyped Sarvam, met with average success at the box office, but were critically acclaimed. He essayed a negative character in his debut Telugu film Varudu opposite Allu Arjun in 2010 and it was praised. His 2010 tamil movie Madrasapattinam released with positive reviews and became a successful venture. His latest release Boss Engira Bhaskaran released on 10th september 2010 to highly positive reviews and has become a blockbuster and his biggest hit till date. He has another movie Chikku Bukku waiting for release in 2010. Currently Arya is acting in Bala's Avan Ivan together with Vishal Krishna.
